Which Ketubah Text Should I Choose?

Check with your Rabbi about which text is acceptable. Each movement within Judaism is very specific about which text is required and if a different text is used, your rabbi may reject your ketubah.

Generally, if your rabbi is Orthodox, he will require the traditional Aramaic, Orthodox text. A rabbi affiliated with the Conservative Movement will require the Conservative text. Rabbis affiliated with the Reform, Reconstructionist, Jewish Renewal, or other progressive Jewish movements are usually more flexible, and will probably accept either the Conservative or Egalitarian texts. If either bride or groom is not Jewish, the rabbi will usually require the Interfaith text. The Equal Partners text is available on some ketubot, and may be used for lesbian, gay, or heterosexual unions.

Our ketubot are also available with "no text" for those of you who want to personalize your text or if you are not Jewish. In this case, once you receive the ketubah you may customize it with your vows, or any other words you wish. Hiring a professional calligrapher or artist to do this will likely give you the best results.

Note: Not every text is available on every ketubah design, and the wording of each text may vary slightly on different ketubah designs so check the specific product and text you're interested in to be sure.
