Horse Hair Pottery
Horse hair pottery gets its distinctive look from the use of horse hair from the tail and mane. It is fired using a special technique which is hazardous and time consuming.
The finer lines are created from the mane of the horse while the thicker lines are from the hair of the tail. After the vase is fired it is sprayed glazed. When firing and glazing is completed, the pottery is hand etched and in some cases animal hide or stone, such as turquoise may be applied to the vase.
Every vase is original and made by Native Americans in New Mexico.
